Create an account
Signing up as a reader or a creator, and the age requirement.
Sign up
- Choose Sign up in the header, or one of the calls to action on the homepage.
- Pick whether you are joining to read or to publish.
- Enter your email address, a password and your date of birth.
- Confirm your email address using the link we send you.
You can also sign in with Google, which skips the password step.
Age requirement
You need to be 16 or over to create a Joy of Mags account. If your date of birth shows you are under 16 the sign-up is politely declined — this applies to both reader and creator accounts.
Publications marked as mature are only shown to signed-in readers whose date of birth confirms they are 18 or over.
Common questions
- Why do you ask for my date of birth?
- It is used to enforce the minimum age of 16 and to gate mature content to readers aged 18 and over. It is not shown on your public profile.
- I never received the confirmation email.
- Check your spam folder first, then try signing in again to trigger a fresh confirmation email. If it still does not arrive, contact support and we will confirm the address manually.
