Creator Agreement

Last updated 23 August 2026

The additional terms that apply when you publish or sell magazines on Joy of Mags.

1. Your role

As a creator you are the publisher and seller of your magazines. Joy of Mags provides hosting, the reader, the storefront and payment infrastructure. You decide pricing, scheduling and whether an issue is free, paid or part of a subscription.

2. Your warranties

  • You own or have licensed all rights in every page you upload, including photography, illustration, fonts and contributor work.
  • You have the right to sell the content in the territories where it is offered.
  • Your content complies with the Acceptable Use and Content Standards policy, and mature content is correctly flagged.
  • Where a publication is credited to a third party in the 'Published by' field, you have their authority to publish it.

3. Monetisation

  • Selling is opt-in. You enable it in Profile settings and complete Stripe Connect onboarding in your own name or business name.
  • Stripe verification can take up to two working days; you cannot take payments until Stripe confirms your account can accept charges.
  • Joy of Mags takes no revenue share on sales — the full sale amount, less Stripe's own processing fees, goes to your Stripe account.
  • You are responsible for your own tax reporting and, where applicable, VAT on the sales you make.

4. Perpetual reader access

If you delete a publication or issue that has already been purchased, we archive it instead of erasing it: it is removed from the catalogue and from sale, but remains readable by the people who paid for it. You grant us the licence needed to do this for as long as those buyers hold their access.

5. Suspension

We may withdraw a title from sale where we receive a credible copyright complaint, where content breaches our standards, or where Stripe restricts the connected account. We will tell you why and how to respond.

6. Ending the relationship

You can stop selling at any time by turning monetisation off, and can close your account entirely from Profile settings. Active subscriptions must be allowed to run to the end of their paid period or be refunded pro rata.
