Payments, Payouts and Refunds Policy
Last updated 23 August 2026
How money moves through Joy of Mags, when payouts arrive and how refunds and cancellations work.
1. How payment works
- Checkout is hosted by Stripe. Card details are entered on Stripe's pages and never reach Joy of Mags.
- Funds are transferred to the creator's connected Stripe account. Joy of Mags applies no platform fee; Stripe's processing fees apply.
- All prices are shown and charged in pounds sterling (£).
- Access unlocks as soon as Stripe confirms the payment, normally within seconds.
2. Payouts to creators
- Payouts are made by Stripe to the bank account given during onboarding, on Stripe's standard schedule for your country.
- Charges and payouts are only enabled once Stripe completes identity and bank verification, which can take up to two working days.
- Balances, payout timing and statements are visible in the Stripe dashboard linked from Profile settings.
3. Refunds for readers
- Digital content is delivered immediately, so the statutory 14-day right to cancel does not apply once you have started reading a purchased issue. You are asked to acknowledge this at checkout.
- If an issue is faulty — corrupt pages, wrong file, missing content — you are entitled to a repair, replacement or refund. Contact us within 30 days.
- Refund requests go to hello@joyofmags.com and are passed to the creator. Where a title is materially not as described, we may refund on the creator's behalf and recover the amount from their balance.
4. Subscriptions
- Subscriptions renew automatically monthly or annually until cancelled.
- Cancel at any time through the self-serve billing portal in your library; access continues to the end of the paid period.
- Part-periods are not refunded unless the publication stops delivering the issues it advertised.
5. Chargebacks and failed payments
A chargeback is deducted from the creator's Stripe balance along with any Stripe fee, and the reader's access to the disputed issue is withdrawn. Repeated failed subscription payments end the subscription and its access.
